Community Guidelines

Chattypod is for friendly conversation. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.

Version 2026-10-27

Be kind

Disagree with ideas, not people. No harassment, bullying, threats, doxxing (sharing someone's private information) or targeting anyone for who they are.

No hate speech: nothing that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability or serious illness.

Keep it safe

  • Chattypod is for people aged 16 and over. Any sexual content involving minors is forbidden and reported to the authorities.
  • No sexually explicit or pornographic content, no nudity, and no sexual messages to people who haven't asked for them.
  • No graphic violence or gore, and nothing that encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders. If someone seems to be in danger, report it, and contact local emergency services.
  • No terrorism or violent extremism, and no promotion of illegal drugs, weapons sales or other illegal activity.

Be real

Don't impersonate other people or organisations. Don't spam, flood rooms, run scams or phishing, or post misleading links. Don't buy, sell or trade accounts, or try to farm points with fake reactions.

Respect copyright: only share what you have the right to share.

Reporting and blocking

Long-press (or hover) any message and choose Report, or report a profile from the person's page. You can block anyone from their profile: you won't see their room messages and they can't message you.

Our team reviews reports and acts within 24 hours. Depending on what happened we remove the content, mute or remove the person from a room, or ban the account temporarily or permanently. Serious cases (child safety, credible threats) may be reported to the police.

Room moderators help keep their rooms on topic. Members can also remove someone from a room together: enough reports in a short time trigger an automatic kick.

In a room you can also type "@bot report @user reason" to report someone (only the moderators and our team see who reported), or "@bot mods" to call the room's moderators.

The room bot

Every room has a bot. It is clearly marked with a BOT badge and is not a person. Mention it with "@bot" followed by a command:

  • @bot help: what the bot can do (only you see the answer).
  • @bot rules: the room's rules, written by the room's owner (or our default rules).
  • @bot report @user [reason]: report someone in this room.
  • @bot mods [note]: call the room's moderators. Please only use it when something needs their attention.
  • Room staff can also use @bot warn, @bot mute, @bot kick and @bot ban (a ban from that room only).

Warnings are public in the room. 3 warnings within 24 hours, from moderators or automatic ones (for filtered words or flooding), mean an automatic 60-minute mute in that room.

When AI chat is on in a room, mentioning the bot with anything else gets a short AI-written reply (marked AI), and the bot may welcome new members. AI replies can be wrong and are never moderation decisions: to report a problem, use "@bot report" or "@bot mods". Trying to trick the bot into breaking these guidelines, or using it to spam a room, is treated like any other rule break.

Automated checks

Some words are masked or refused automatically (and in rooms the bot may add a gentle warning). Profile photos, uploaded GIFs and link previews are checked by an automated image-moderation service: clearly inappropriate images are refused, and borderline ones are held for review by our team before others can see them.
