Delete your Chattypod account
How to delete your Chattypod account and data, what is deleted, and what is kept. Chattypod is operated by [Operator legal name, registered address and company number].
App: Chattypod (on the web; iPhone and Android apps coming soon, package com.chattypod.app). Developer: Chattypod.
Open the web app, sign in, then go to Profile › Settings › Delete account. Already signed in? Go straight to the delete screen.
In the app (iPhone, Android or web)
- Open Chattypod and sign in.
- Go to Profile › Settings › Delete account.
- Read what will happen, enter your password and confirm.
On the web: sign in at https://app.chattypod.com, then Profile › Settings › Delete account. Before deleting, you can download a copy of your data (Settings › Download my data).
Your account is deleted 7 days after you ask. Changed your mind? Just sign in again before then and the deletion is cancelled.
Can't sign in any more?
Forgot your password? Reset it yourself with "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen; we email a code to the address on your account.
Lost access to that email address, or your account is suspended? Email support@chattypod.com, ideally from the email address on the account, with your username (and that address, if you write from another one). We'll confirm the request by emailing the address on the account, then delete the account (immediately, without the grace period).
What is deleted
- Your profile: display name, username, bio, social handles and profile photo.
- Your email address, your phone number (if you added one) and your date of birth (year and month).
- Saved GIFs, GIFs you uploaded (unless still needed for a report), blocks, notification settings and mutes.
- Your appearance settings and wallpaper photos, your sticker library, favourites and recents, and sticker packs you created that were never published. Published packs stay in the store for people who added them, shown as from "Deleted user".
- All signed-in devices, sessions and push tokens.
- Your messages: replaced by "Message deleted" and shown as from "Deleted user" in rooms and direct messages.
What is kept, and for how long
- Hidden copies of your deleted messages: up to 30 days, visible only to administrators for safety investigations, then permanently erased.
- Reports (including the reported content) and moderation records (including room warnings): kept with a pseudonymous id, without your profile details, as long as needed to enforce our rules.
- Points history: kept without your identity so other people's balances stay correct. Points have no cash value.
- If the account was banned: a one-way fingerprint of the email address (and of the phone number, if there was one) until the ban would have ended, so they can't be used to sign up again.
- Optional anonymous feedback you leave when deleting: up to 180 days, not linked to you.
- Server logs and backups: they age out on their normal schedule; deletions are re-applied if a backup is ever restored.
